Introducing the heart rate sensor and spatial sound in Anker AirPods
According to JBQ, Anker has gained an advantage over Apple with the new Soundcore Liberty 4 earbuds with in-ear heart rate sensors a feature that was rumored to be coming to the AirPods Pro 2 but never quite made the cut.
Although Apple’s latest flagship headphones offer several improvements over the original AirPods Pro, the AirPods Pro 2 do not feature the previously rumored heart rate sensor. While this might not be an issue for most people, if you’re someone who wants heart rate tracking functionality in their headphones, Anker has you covered.
The latest Soundcore Liberty 4 headphones have a heart rate sensor and surround sound support, and are $100 cheaper than the AirPods Pro 2.
The all-new Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 is the first headphone in Anker’s Soundcore Liberty series, featuring dual dynamic drivers and an updated base design. For $149.99, the Liberty 4 offers pretty much everything you’d expect to see in a pair of premium TWS headphones, including ANC support and immersive surround sound. In addition, the headphones also have a heart rate tracker for fitness enthusiasts.
Soundcore Liberty 4 also features new CloudComfort ear tips that ensure a comfortable and secure fit, Hi-Res Audio wireless certification, ACAA 3.0 coaxial audio system for enhanced sound output and LDAC support. As far as battery life is concerned, Anker claims the Liberty 4 can last up to 9 hours on a single charge with ANC off and up to 7 hours with ANC on. The charging case, which has wireless charging support, adds 28 hours of playtime without ANC and 24 hours with ANC.

Note that the Liberty 4 is not the first TWS headphone on the market with a heart rate sensor. The Amazfit PowerBuds and Jabra Elite Sports Earbuds also have a heart rate sensor and are much more affordable than Anker’s latest offering.
Anker’s new headphones have a stem design reminiscent of Apple’s AirPods, while the right earbud has a special sensor that can monitor your heart rate continuously or just as you’re exercising. HR data is linked to Anker’s Wellness app, which also has tracking options for guided, free and customized exercise routines.
Liberty 4 also has spatial audio support, active noise cancellation, adjustable equalizer, and support for AAC, LDAC, and SBC codecs, but not aptX. The headphones also have support for multiple connection switching.
The battery life is declared up to 9 hours with a single charge, but this time is reduced to 7 hours with noise cancellation enabled, 6 hours in LDAC mode and without noise cancellation, and 5 hours with spatial sound on.

Anker’s Soundcore Liberty 4 headphones are priced at $149.99 and come in either black or white, with the latter available starting today at Soundcore.com. The black headphones are also coming to Amazon on October 10th, while the white headphones are set to go on sale on October 7th on Soundcore’s website and October 17th on Amazon. As for Apple, it’s unclear if heart rate tracking is a feature the company has used in the second-generation AirPods Pro, or if it’s something Apple is developing for future AirPods models. Apple has been rumored for some time to be developing health monitoring functions for AirPods, with even Apple executives hinting at the possibility.
According to documents seen by the Wall Street Journal, Apple is developing prototype AirPods with temperature sensors to monitor the user’s core body temperature from inside the ear, but which model they are for and when they will appear remains unknown.

Soundcore Liberty 4 earphones launched by Anker
Anker hosted a press event tonight where Anker showed off a bunch of new additions to its lineup. Among these new product debuts, the Soundcore sub-brand is releasing its latest pair of flagship headphones in the form of the Liberty 4.
With the same true wireless design you’d expect from a modern pair of headphones, Anker has it all. It is expected in its recent debuts, while offering some technology that even beats Apple, Google and Samsung by a mile.
The most interesting feature of the new Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 headphones is the built-in heart rate monitor. It’s something we’ve covered in the past with AirPods, and an impression that ultimately didn’t make it to Apple’s latest release. However, Anker is offering this feature.
The built-in sensor lets you monitor your heart rate, whether it’s to monitor your workout or just for a quick reading. This bypasses the usual fitness tracker requirements that you also need to monitor stats.
