Introducing Google Pixel Fold series
According to JBQ, The rumored Pixel Fold will be Google pixel fold first foray into the foldable smartphone market, taking on well-known foldable giants like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold. While all eyes are on Google’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, a number of leaks suggest that the first foldable Pixel will also have a lot to show off.

Samsung may have laid the groundwork in 2019, but Google could make foldable phones mainstream. The Pixel Fold, or whatever it might be called, hasn’t been officially announced yet, but we already know something about its price, release date, design, and more.
Given that this is Google’s first Pixel phone with a completely different form factor, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when the Pixel Fold will debut. However, a report from The Elec suggests that the Fold will hit the market by the end of 2021 or early 2022.
Rumors are seeing more evidence of the foldable Pixel. Developer Kuba Wojciechowski has revealed the camera specifications of upcoming Pixel phones, including the Pixel Fold.
Additionally, Yang stated that it could arrive in the fourth quarter of 2022, despite Google itself detailing the devices that are set to arrive in late 2022 and early 2023 at I/O 2022. However, this has apparently been pushed back. Spring 2023, because Google might want to use a next-generation Tensor chip in it.

GOOGLE PIXEL Fold Price

GOOGLE PIXEL FOLD DESIGN
So far, the Pixel Fold has yet to reveal itself. While there haven’t been any sneak peeks at the form factor or its appearance, designer Waqar Khan has created renderings of the design based on the seams that have been revealed. The renders show an almost exact design of the Pixel 5, albeit with an additional folding screen. We were fans of the Pixel 5’s look and feel, with its compact footprint and thin, curved edges. We would love to see the Pixel Fold see some design cues, especially if the Fold doubles in width. This will be Google’s first foray into a foldable, so its design may come with some issues — though hopefully the tech giant has learned from Samsung’s earlier efforts.
According to a report by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, which announced that Chinese manufacturer Foxconn will develop the Pixel Fold and the rumored Pixel 7 flagship, the Pixel Fold will have a foldable display similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. The post also suggests that the Pixel Fold will have a back similar to the Pixel 7, while the front will resemble Oppo’s first foldable phone, the Find N. The camera is not a hole in the eye.
“The internal display has a full display without a hole, and the super-micro-hole camera is on the frame,” the post reads. This post was translated using Google Translate, so it’s hard to know exactly what it means. Apparently, instead of an under-display camera, there could be a “micro-hole camera” somewhere on the bezel, possibly in the bezel. As mentioned, we may not see a camera when the folding screen is open, which means no selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 screen
We may also have seen a sneak peek at the Fold. As shown in the Android 12L Beta 3 animations, the Pixel Fold has a more boxy design like the recently released Oppo Find N instead of the slim build of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. GOOGLE PIXEL FOLD DISPLAY
Most Pixel Fold rumors have focused on its display, and it’s looking to impress. According to display panelists Ross Young and David Naranjo, all of the foldable devices that will ship with Samsung Display panels will be equipped with 120Hz LTPO displays – something we’re more than excited to hear. This includes the Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, Yang stated that the phones will arrive in 2021, but we don’t have the Pixel Fold yet.
Thanks to Samsung Display, the Pixel Fold is expected to have a 7.6-inch foldable display. This makes it smaller than other displays that Samsung Display is reportedly developing.
However, Ross Young says otherwise, stating that the Pixel Fold has a smaller 5.8-inch display compared to the Galaxy Fold 4’s 6.19-inch screen.
The Z Fold 4 and Google foldable will have similar-sized foldable displays, but the Google Cover’s screen will be much smaller at 5.8. Conference next week.
GOOGLE PIXEL folding cameras
The code in Google’s camera app, discovered by 9to5Google, provides a detailed summary of the phone’s camera specifications. According to the findings, the main wide-angle camera on the foldable Pixel is the same 12.2 MP IMX363 found on the Pixel 5 and a number of other Pixels. While Google is definitely squeezing every last bit of performance out of the thing, it was showing its age two years ago.

Unfortunately, it lacks a telephoto lens, but it does have two 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 cameras on the front, one on the outer screen and one on the inner screen. This is the same front-facing sensor that Google used for the Pixel 3 in 2018.

GOOGLE PIXEL FOLD PERFORMANCE
Foldable phones are known to be equipped with high-end specifications, and the Pixel Fold is no different. The chip was previously thought to house the same Tensor chip as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, but now that we’re getting closer to the Pixel 7, we could see the next-gen Tensor chip.
As spotted by Notebookcheck, two listings codenamed Google Pipit, another rumored codename for the Pixel Fold, have been found on Geekbench. According to the listing, the Pixel Fold is powered by a Tensor chip and has 12 GB of RAM. This is the Pixel 6 Pro. Previous rumors about Google making chips for Pixel devices codenamed “Whitechapel” have come true. Google Tensor is Google’s first built-in silicon for phones, bringing more advanced speech recognition capabilities to outperform Google Assistant and more AI and machine learning features.

Camera Review
The cameras on the Pixel devices have been upgraded thanks to the Tensor chip, as the improved AI delivers sharper, DSLR like photos. Will the next generation Tensor chip bring big improvements? Only time will tell, but there’s reason to believe the Pixel Fold will ship with Google’s custom chip.

There’s still a lot to learn about Google’s first foldable phone, but there’s plenty of reason to think the Pixel Fold is coming, and soon. With a 120Hz LTPO foldable display panel apparently in the works, and Google’s potential to offer an affordable foldable compared to Samsung’s expensive Galaxy Z Fold, the Pixel Fold could easily be the year of the foldable if it hits the market in 2023.
